Fiona Mcvie Interviews Author Mark Parker
Here is the link to a recent interview I was invited to do with Fiona Mcvie for her 'author blog.' Hope you enjoy it. I welcome any questions...and will do my best to answer any that may arise. Thanks for reading!
WELCOME . . .
Welcome to my blog! I am a Boston based writer of horror, suspense, and mystery fiction, and enjoy connecting with my readers. I hope in the coming months we are able to get to know one another a bit. I will be sharing new cover designs with you as they are created, snippets of my current published works, as well as news of upcoming projects.
So...where do we start? What would you like to know about me?
I was born in the age of hippies, when groups like Peter, Paul & Mary and The Doors were big. I also remember hearing a lot of early Elton John. My parents did a lot of moving around in those days, so while I was born in the Midwest, I grew up "all over," I guess you could say. I have vague recollections of living in places like Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Florida, and Massachusetts, but called New Bedford, MA, home for the largest number of years.
I'm a Navy Veteran, ex-seminarian, having studied six years for the Roman Catholic Priesthood, and have held jobs in so many fields that I wouldn't be able to readily list them all. Suffice it to say, prior to beginning my career as a published author, I have worked in retail, restaurants, and banking, and currently hold a "day" job in hospital education and administration.
Regarding hobbies? When I'm not working in healthcare, I spend most of my "free" time writing and reading when I can. I have only recently become a member of the Facebook community, and have established an author account on Twitter. This is my first ever blog, and I hope to use it to not only share bits about myself, but also enter articles on various aspects of writing and readership, as well as host some fellow writers who will share some of their literary and creative insights with us, as well.
Having grown up for most of my life on the South Coast of Massachusetts, I was greatly influenced by writers like H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Shirley Jackson, and Herman Melville. Some of my other favorite writers include: Dean Koontz, Clive Barker, Mary Higgins Clark, Robert B. Parker, and a hometown mystery and romance writer by the name of Mary Kruger (aka Mary Kingsley).
I am infinitely drawn to anything having to do with the sea. JAWS is my all-time favorite film for many obvious reasons, and I love most of the film adaptations of Stephen King's work, as well.
My current horror fiction titles on Amazon.com include two short stories, BIOLOGY OF BLOOD, a vampire short, and LUCKY YOU, a psychosexual killer short, and WAY OF THE WITCH - Book One of the Witch Saga, that chronicles the lives of two young childhood friends, who in their early teens encounter an old woman they are convinced is a witch. The cover designs for these digital eBooks are here for your reference.
